Rob RobyI graduated from Hanover College in 1973 with a biology degree, followed by a teaching degree from IUS, but I realized early on that I was better suited to working with my hands. As fate would have it, I found employment in cabinet making and carpentry, and then a career in operating heavy machinery in a local cement plant.
Even though I’ve been a woodworker and carpenter for forty years, I’ve always had a fascination with wood turning. Not until 2005 was I fortunate enough to meet the late, great Sonny Hardin, who gave me the boost to pursue what has become my passion.
There is a certain appeal in seeing a lump of clay, a molten glob of glass, or a chunk of wood transformed into something recognized as a beautiful and/or useful piece of art.
